Broad Spectrum is Best

UV radiation produced by the sun includes harmful UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are the most common and are the main causes of premature aging while UVB rays are the ones that cause sunburn and sun spots. In addition, both can lead to skin cancer.

A broad spectrum sunscreen is the best way to ensure your skin is protected from both types of harmful sun rays.

Shoot for SPF 30 or More

SPF stands for sun protection factor. Sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or higher are designed to block 97% of the sun's rays which minimizes the risk of sun damage significantly!

Mineral Formulas are Safest

While chemical sunscreens are common, mineral sunscreens are the safer option when it comes to skin health and effective sun protection. Chemical sunscreens are merely designed to sit on the skin's surface, while mineral sunscreens absorb into the skin and provide a protective barrier.

Ensure it’s Reef Safe

Chemical sunscreens can be harmful to marine life as they often contain oxybenzone and octinoxate which leach into the water. Over time, these chemicals have been known to cause coral bleaching and have a whole host of other harmful effects.

Mineral sunscreens are made with safe, non-toxic ingredients like zinc to provide sun protection and are categorized as reef safe.

Check That it Has Enough Zinc

Zinc is a mineral that blocks radiant energy from harmful UVA and UVB rays. A minimum of 10% zinc oxide concentration is recommended for adequate sun protection. Something else to note is that many sunscreens with zinc oxide go on white, but our unique formula does not leave a white cast and is lightweight and non-greasy.
